So, How does it work?
As with all UP2 products, it is up to you!
If you do not want to use our technology:
we will simply offer you the ‘product’ of tree planting. You can then offer it to your guests as you wish. For example, you can add the Upgrade2 Trees™ add-on to your booking engine, or CRM, or event to your call centre and marketing material. When a guest decides they want to buy the service of having a tree planted, you notify us, and we will buy the tree planting, confirm to you that it was done, and invoice you as needed (cost for each tree planted is £3 / €3.5 / $4)!.
If you are happy to use the UP2 technology
then some fun things can happen:
We will show you how UP2 can work within your existing ecosystem, allowing you to get guests to plant trees with their stay, whilst seamlessly communicating with each system in your ecosystem. PMS, CRMs, CRSs - we can update every system needed.
You will decide how you want to empower guests to plant trees, from one of these two options:
OPTION 1.
- Customers pay for each tree that will be planted with their stay. If you wish, guests can choose where/for which tree-planting project their trees will be planted (from the locations on the planet that you choose to make available to them).
- Customers are charged normally, as you would do for any other ancillary sale.
OPTION 2.
- Customers who stay longer, can opt to skip room service for one or more nights. Each day they do this corresponds to one tree planted.
THEN:
We invoice you for the trees ordered by your guests (through our normal invoicing process).
We order the planting of trees from our worldwide partners on your behalf.
We submit to you proof of orders on a monthly basis.
Post-stay, you can enable automatic e-mails to guests who have opted to plant trees, thanking them for their contribution (in a highly shareable format).
UP2 can empower your communications with all your guests, allowing you to offer them tree planting as an upgrade option, when they stay at your hotel.
The guest chooses to either forfeit a night’s turnover service, or to pay to buy the service. In return you will plant a tree in their name (which we will take care for you).
We manage all communications with the guest, we collect the appropriate payment from you in our monthly invoice, and we send (on your behalf) the post-stay tree-planting confirmations when the donation is made.
All this is done without any manual interventions from you. In addition, we will be listing you with our CRS pages as a green partner, and - when the threshold of one thousand dollars in contributions is met - we will publish your name in tree-planting charitable organisations’ donor’s lists.

Yes. In fact, we recommend that you do exactly that. Using the powerful ancillary sales engine of UP2, you are able to only offer the paid-for option to customers that stay only one night, whilst for longer staying customers can see either or both options.

Yes, if that is what you wish to do, the final pricing of the ancillary products is always under your control. We will only ever charge you the prices listed above.

Yes. With scale, we are able to offer you a better price per-tree planted, but a minimum monthly number will have to be discussed before we do so.

Yes. We happily interface with CRMs, when hotels want to have one place from which all e-mails are being sent. This may include the option of your CRM handling all the transactions, initial e-mails, etc. and UP2 just takes care of the tree planting process/invoicing etc. Please note that an interface may need to be developed before we can support this service for your CRM of choice.

Yes, everything sent to your guests is completely controlled by you, as with all ancillary items that you sell and market through UP2.

Yes. We are already interfaced with multiple PMSs, and we are very good at coding new ones! So, an interface with your PMS, or any other system in your ecosystem, is always a possibility. Please note that in some instances a new PMS interface may need to be developed before we offer this service.

Yes. We have partnerships with payment service provider companies, and if you need this, we are able to charge guests on your behalf (at the time of booking). Please note that this service is subject to geographical availability, and there are additional transaction costs with such payment services.

Yes. We will need to have a discussion about how you will want to inform us of the bookings made (e.g. if interfaces are needed etc.), but in principle this is absolutely fine. We will still organise the planting on your behalf as detailed above.
